It's been about 3 months since I had my contact with my distant cousin, Jodine, in Regina. I sent her a copy of Southern Fried Rice so they could learn a bit about my mother, their aunt that they never met. But no response and no contact or information came with other siblings.
Then, out of the blue, a call came from Calgary where the second oldest cousin, Danny, lives. We shared hellos, background info, etc., and then I got to speak with their aunt from Vancouver who along with her husband was visiting family in Calgary. Even though our conversation was limited by my poor ability to speak Chinese, enough communication flowed, I think, that made it a success!
So, one of these days, we'll have to get together in person and share some stories! It was amazing but wonderful to have successfully tracked down these relatives that I never knew much about. As a bonus, today, I got an e mail from another sibling, John, who actually found this blog about my search for his family while himself searching for infomation about his father. How amazing is that!
